Cochran – Jerry Smith, age 63, died Saturday at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery on the Smith Family Farm.

Jerry was a life long resident of Cochran and was the son of the late James M. Smith. He was owner and operator of Southern States Fire Protection and a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. Jerry loved living on the family farm and raising cattle.

Survivors are his wife, Mary C. Smith of Cochran; children, Wendy (Mike) Fletcher of Lake Park, Laura (Andy) Baughcum of Cochran, Timothy (Pam) Humphrey of Suffolk, VA and Brad C. (Samantha) Humphrey of Warner Robins; mother, Pauline R. Smith of Cochran; brother, Jimmy Smith of Cochran; sister, Barbara (Robert) Phipps of Dublin; grandchildren, Nicole, Lana, Leah, Michael, Jennifer, Jim, Jordan and Ryan; nephew, Mitch (Nikki) Belflower of Dublin and niece, Leanne Belflower of Atlanta.

The family is at 189 Foskey Road and will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Mathis Funeral Home.
