Cochran – Alvin E. “Chick” Purser, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Bryant Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2012, at 3:00 PM in Union Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Alvin was born on September 13, 1927 in Cochran. He was the son of the late Rev. K.S. and Axie Jane Hinson Purser. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Roland Purser and his son Dr. Alvin Dwayne Purser. He was an electrician and loved hunting and fishing. He was a member and deacon at Union Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Tom Witt of Cochran; daughter-in-law, Sundra B. Purser of Statesboro; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The family is at 162 Alvin Purser Road and will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Mathis Funeral Home.
