Shelbyville, TN – Alan Keith Newman, age 59, died Saturday, September 12, 2020 at his home in Shelbyville, TN.  A memorial service, for family members only, will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Ruth Baptist Church in Cochran, GA.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. before the services for anyone who wishes to visit.

Alan was born in Hawkinsville, GA and had lived in Cochran, GA most of his life.  He was the son of the late Mary Sue Barlow Newman.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry "Hink" and Mary Bollinger Barlow and Wallace and Jewel Sanders Newman of Cochran.  Alan grew up on the family farm and farmed for many years.  He also was a truck driver for the farm commodities before moving to Tennessee.  He was a member of Ruth Baptist Church.  Alan had a strong love for his family, God, and always lived his life with a smile.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, cooking for his family, and working hard.

Survivors are his children, Zachary (Jessica) Newman of Tullahoma, TN, Cory Newman of Warner Robins, GA, Logan Newman of New Market, TN, Sara Lynn Newman and Bethany Beard of Cochran; his father, Charles Lynn Newman of Cochran; his brother, Ricky (Cindy) Newman of Cochran; his sister Bonnie (Byron) Whiggum of Cochran; his aunt, Carol Ann (Johnny) Nichols of Young Harris; twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
