Roddy – Arvin "Sheriff" Buchanan, age 81, died Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Bryant Nursing Center in Cochran. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 12:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roddy Community Cemetery.

Arvin was a lifelong resident of Roddy and loved his family. He was the son of the late Johnny B. and Oppie Belflower Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Buchanan, his sisters, Ila Mae Buchanan, Lucille Lewis and Patricia Buchanan and his niece Brenda Jones. He loved animals and all law enforcement.

Survivors are his nieces, Regina Lewis and Emily (Dennis Blizzard) Jones of Eastman and Susan Buchanan Kelly of New York; great-nieces, Tammy (Rex) McRae and Becky (Lynn) Mullis of Roddy and Stacey (Mike) Nobles of Cochran; several great-great nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends one hour before the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
