Chester – Barney Gilbert, age 82, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at his residence. Funeral services, will be held Friday, March 29, 2019, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

Mr. Gilbert, born in Chester, spent his entire life in Dodge County. He was the son of the late Emory and Vera Roland Gilbert and was preceded in death by his wife Annie Ruth Gilbert and his sons, Mark Gilbert and Joey Gilbert. He was the owner and operator of Gilbert Construction and 441 Speedway.

Survivors are his sons, Jerry (Donna) Gilbert and Johnny (Pamela) Gilbert of Chester; his brother Burney (Christine Stone) Gilbert of Chester his sisters, Jan (David) Brown of Cochran and Judy (Ed) Mullis of Rentz; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Serenity Hospice Care, 520 Hillcrest Pkwy, Dublin, GA 31021.

The Family is at 222 Ebb Peacock Rd and will greet friends an hour before the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
