Obituary

Cochran – Bernease Moore Butts, age 86, went to be with her Lord on the morning of April 29, 2020, in the At Home assisted living. Private graveside funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Bernease, born in Chester, Georgia, had lived most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late Clifford Ollie and Rose Rogers Moore and the wife of the late Woody Butts, Sr. She graduated as Valedictorian from Chester High School, was a graduate of Middle Georgia College, where she was a basketball star and finished her education at the University of Georgia. Mrs. Bernease was an Assistant Professor of Business Education for 20 years at Middle Georgia College and took pride in educating and leading her students to succeed in his or her profession. After retirement she worked closely with her husband and son at Woody Butts Chevrolet and Butts Properties. She was Member Emeritus of The Pilot Club of Cochran and received numerous awards for her service and accomplishments including Pilot of the Year. She was a member of the Cochran First Baptist Church and the Lucille Wilson Sunday School Class.

Survivors are her son, Woody (April) Butts, Jr. of Cochran; her brother, Scotty (Beverly) Moore of Chester; grandchildren, Tres Butts, Jagger Butts and Carlyn Wells; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cochran First Baptist Church, 101 S. Second St., Cochran, GA 31014.
