Chester – Bessie Purvis Coley, age 85, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, in Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in Chester Church of God. Burial will be private in Pleasant Olive Cemetery in Chester.

Mrs. Bessie, born in Dodge County, had lived most of her life in Chester and Roddy. She was the daughter of the late O.W. "Bud" and Bessie Mae Yeomans Purvis and the wife of the late Melvin P. Coley. Mrs. Bessie was retired from Jac-Arts in Cochran and was a graduate of Hawkinsville High School. She was a member of Chester Church of God.

Survivors are her children, Penny (Kenny) Elliott of Cochran and Regina (Don) Warren of Chester; her grandchildren, Kyle Newman, Caleb (Emily) Warren, Heather (T.J.) Garnto, Misty (Steven) Lamb, Kennon (Megan) Elliott, Sarah (Troy) Yearty and Lauren Elliott; twelve great grandchildren; her sister, Linda (Bobby) Warren of Eastman; her brothers, R.S. "Sam" (Angie) Purvis of Alabaster, AL and J.W. (Cheryl) Purvis of Roddy; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Chester Church of God, 320 Main St., Chester, GA 31012.

The family is at 1290 Highway 126 East, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Chester Church of God.
