Betty Jo Cole, age 77, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Bleckley Memorial Hospital. A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends after the service.

Born on May 22, 1949, in Jacksonville, Florida, Betty was the daughter of the late Leroy Babb and Elizabeth Grinsted Rivera. She spent most of her life in Cochran, a community that remained central to her life over the years.

Betty graduated from Cochran High School with the Class of 1967 and later attended beautician’s school. Her working life included positions at TG&Y, CVS, and Lumber Transport, reflecting many years of steady employment in different roles.

She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church. Within her family, she was especially known as a caring and loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bricin Bergeaux; her granddaughter, Regan Grace Cole; and her brother, Jimmy Roy Babb.

Betty is survived by her children, Jim (Jennifer) Cole, Beth (Dan) Stryffler, Ben Cole, and Cindy Cole; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
