Cochran – Ms. Betty Ann Lyles Abney, age 83, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., in Evergreen Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Abney was born and raised in Bleckley County. She was the daughter of the Late Jim and Christine Cooper Lyles and was preceded in death by her son Gregory Abney; her granddaughter, Laura King and her siblings, Tommy Lyles and Jimmitine King. She attended Cary Elementary and Cochran High School. She was retired from Lithonia Lighting. She loved attending gospel sings, and although she was a good cook, she enjoyed eating at restaurants with friends. Rarely did she leave home without her faithful canine companion, Cookie, by her side. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church

She is survived by one daughter, Betty King of Hamlet, NC; two sons, Gary Abney of Cochran and Craig Abney of Conway, SC; her sister, Louise Rogers of Eastman; her grandson, Wayne King of Laurinsburg, NC; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family is at 302 Julian-Simpson Rd and will greet friends an hour before the service, Thursday at Evergreen Baptist Church.
