Cochran – Betty Jo McCarthy, age 88, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at her residence. Funeral services will be private.

Mrs. Betty Jo, born in Hawkinsville, had lived all of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late Murdock and Docia Norsworthy Davis and was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny E. McCarthy. Mrs. Betty Jo was a seamstress and caregiver. She was a member of Dubois Baptist Church and was the church pianist.

Survivors are her son, John Paul (Gisele) McCarthy of Hawkinsville; her grandson, Zach (Marsha) McCarthy of Statesboro; great grandson Beau McCarthy of Statesboro; step grandchildren, Billy (Andrea) Melton of Marshallville, Andy (Sheri) Alexander of Oklahoma City, OK and Cory (Brittany) Alexander of Cumming; step granddaughter, Leila Alexander of Oklahoma City, OK; several nieces and nephews including Paula Cook and Casey Hood.
