Cochran – Betty W. Perkins, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be private.
Mrs. Betty was born in Dodge County. She was the daughter of the late John and Gladys Cherry Williams and was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Max Perkins; an infant daughter; and her siblings, Wynelle Scarborough, Jerell Moore, Talmadge Williams, Lamar Williams, and Margaret “Polly” Fountain.
Mrs. Betty grew up in Dubois and graduated from Dodge County High School as a member of the Class of 1959. After high school, she worked at L&H Shirt Factory before beginning her career as a substitute teacher at Bleckley County Primary School. In that role, she devoted years of service to education before her retirement. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and was formerly a member of Empire Baptist Church. Mrs. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Perkins-Scott of Cochran; her granddaughters, Kathryn Scott Burke and her husband, Derek, of Cochran, and Deanna Scott of Florida; her great-grandson, Max Burke of Cochran; and several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses appreciation to Mrs. Betty’s caregivers, Dorothy Elvine and Mary Alice Carter; and to Bailey, Jennifer, Kimberly, and the entire staff of Georgia Hospice for the care and compassion shown during this time.
