Betty Jo Smith, born on February 24, 1936, passed away peacefully at her home on February 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Betty was born in Hawkinsville to the late Evelyn Buchan Young and Wilbur Young. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Smith; daughter, Connie Odom; son, Tony Smith; grandson, Brian Smith; great-granddaughter, Kenna Smith and sisters, Olene Slade, Carol Howard, and Rose Burch.

She dedicated many years to Bleckley County Middle School. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and found joy in life's simple pleasures, including family fish fries, gardening alongside Charles, and working on word puzzles. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Vicky (Don) Dykes, Ronnie (Wendy) Smith, and Larry "Runt" (Lorie) Smith. Grandchildren Jason (Carrie) Dykes, Dustin (Hartley) Dykes, T.C Smith, Brad (Danielle) Smith, and Ashley Hutchinson. She had many great-grandchildren including Lane Dykes, Riley and Logan Johnson, Anna, Tyler, Colton and Cooper Dykes, and Cohen and Caroline Smith.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Carol Hinson, Kinsford Place in Hawkinsville staff and residents, and to Georgia Hospice Care for their support and loving care.

The family is at 118 Duskin Drive, Cochran and will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
