Chester – Calvert L. Edwards, age 85, died Saturday, September 14, 2019, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in Rowland Memorial Cemetery in Chester.

Mr. Edwards, born in Kentucky, had lived in Chester 8 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Faun Wolfe and his wife, Shirley Truett Edwards. He was a retired truck driver for Mead Trucking and a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Calvert was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors are his step-children, Rachel (David) Mullis and Billy "Jerry" (Terri) Allen, Jr. of Chester; grandchildren, Drew (Kayley) Mullis, Matt Mullis, Justin Mullis, Rina Allen, Gage Allen, Jeremy Mullis, Jacob Mullis and Tiffani Mullis; great grandchildren, Hunter Hinson, Sara Beth Mullis, Marlie Mullis, Tuff Mullis, Tucker Mullis, Jaxson Mullis and Bryna Grace Mullis; sisters, Geraldine McFarland of Kannapolis, NC, Marietta Reed of Round Rock, TX, Jonnie Kendall of Kokomo, IN and Pat Dorsey of Austin, TX; brothers, Richard Copeland of Santa Barbara, CA and Robert Copeland of Atlanta

The family is at 250 Pine Ave., Chester and will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Mathis Funeral Home.
