Cochran - Carolyn Floyd, age 79, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at Macon Health and Rehab in Macon. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Carolyn was born at home on December 17, 1944, to Albert Floyd and Mamie Cranford Floyd and was a native of Bleckley County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Cranford Floyd, her sister, Martha Floyd (Dennis) West, her father, Albert Floyd, her brothers Melvin (Betty) Floyd, Marvin (Janice) Floyd, and Gerald (Grace) Floyd.

Carolyn was a graduate of Cochran High School, Georgia Southern College, and Clark Atlanta University, where she earned a Master's Degree in Library Science. She was employed by the Department of Defense as a librarian for the Army. She worked at Robins Air Force Base and Fort Benning in Georgia and Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. When Fort McClellan was decommissioned, she moved with the library to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. When she retired, she returned to Bleckley County. She loved her family, all cats, and most books. She enjoyed reading, genealogy research, travelling, sewing, and crocheting.

In her role as Aunt Carolyn, she was often more like a big sister or best friend. She was frequently asked to babysit her nieces and nephews, which led to her becoming the instigator and leader of many childhood adventures and misadventures. Our parents thought there was an adult in charge, but we all knew she was the biggest kid of all.

She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Grace Fordham Floyd Carrier, and many cousins.
