Charles Russell Dykes, age 93, passed peacefully at his home in Bonaire, Georgia on Monday, April 13, 2026. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran, GA. Visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home.  The Reverend Jimmy Bowen will officiate.

Mr. Dykes was born in Dodge County, Georgia to the late K.C and Mae Belle Harrison Dykes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea from 1955 to 1957. He first retired from Robins Air Force Base, and later retired from cross country trucking. A fixer of small engines, a farmer and gardener, he was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending his days moving from pond to pond in search of his next catch. He truly enjoyed the peace of the outdoors cherishing the quiet moments in nature.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Yi Leonard Dykes of Bonaire, his daughters Kathy Dykes Johnson (Tim) of Greenville, SC, Susan Dykes of North Augusta, SC, Betsy Dykes Thomas (Ben) of Eastman, GA, and son, Joseph Leonard (Jennifer) of North Carolina; his sister, Helen Dykes Graham of Cochran; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
