Cochran – Charles "Wayne" Sanders, Sr., age 73, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his residence. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home.

Mr. Wayne, also known as "Paw Paw" and "Hookerman", was born February 28, 1950, in Laurens County. He was the son of the late James Francis and Drue Parham Sanders and was preceded in death by his his son, Charles "Chuck" Wayne Sanders Jr., his siblings, Cleta Holmes, Gene Sanders, Marvin Sanders and Edith Sanders. Mr. Wayne loved his family, working in his yard and fishing. He was happiest when he was entertaining at his house and spending time with his family. He also loved to travel. His favorite place to visit was the panhandle of Florida.

Mr. Wayne is survived by his children, Shelia See, Kenneth Sanders, Tony Sanders, Sheila Smith, Katie Echelbarger; his siblings, Luke Sanders, Billie Ray Sanders, James Sanders, Sylvia Wesberry; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family will greet friends an hour before the service Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home.
