Cochran – Connie May Steinmetz Callaway, age 74, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at her home, in the presence of her family. A visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran.

Mrs. Callaway was born in Connersville, Indiana, but moved to Georgia at a young age when her father was transferred to Robins Air Force Base. She was the daughter of Lawrence Crane Steinmetz and Naomi Frances Garwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Steinmetz. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins and Kinard's Cleaners in Hawkinsville. Ever the avid seamstress, she loved making things for family and friends. She was a member of Jeffersonville Assembly of God.

She is survived by her husband Edward; sister, Nita Steinmetz of Byron; four sons, Terry (Jenny) Roberts of Interlachen, Florida, David (Morgan) Callaway of Locust Grove, Joshua (Yosra) Callaway of Boston, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey (Amie) Callaway of Savannah; one daughter Sylvia (James) Worrall of Louisville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The family is at the residence of Mrs. Connie and Mr. Ralph, 195 Country Club Circle in Cochran.
