Obituary

Cochran – Retired Lt. Col. Dennis Gordon West, age 89, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dennis was born in Oneida TN to the late Lonzo Edwin and Estelle Asbel West. He spent his childhood in Tampa FL. After high school, Dennis attended Georgia College where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. He joined the United States Air Force where he served as a navigator-bombardier on B-52s in the 19th Bomb Wing of the Strategic Air Command. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of the 19th Bomb Wing at Robins Air Force Base after 22 years of service to his country. After his retirement he obtained his real estate license and worked for Key Realty in Warner Robins. Dennis loved to travel. He was an avid photographer. He also loved working in his yard and his garden.

In addition to his parents Dennis was preceded in death by his son Lawrence West, his daughter, Carol Cranford and his brother, James West.

Survivors are his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy "Dottie" West of Cochran; his children, Stephen West (Beth) of Franklin, PA, Laura West of Saint Paul, MN, Robb Westawker of Saint Paul , MN, Anne West-Church of Northampton, MA and Charles "Rusty"  Cranford (Lynn) of Warner Robins, his grandchildren, Jared Davis (Melisa), Caitlin West (Bryce), Jordan Tallberg, Dylan Holck (Lydia), Luke Westawker, Madelyn West, Annie Westawker, Ava West and Sarah Westawker; great grandchildren, Soffia Davis and Saige Davis; his siblings, Phyllis Winter, Robert West and Barbara Jackson (Joel); several nieces and nephews.
