Cochran – Devoe Smith, Jr., age 79, died Sunday, October 30, 2022, in Piedmont Macon Medical Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 11:00 A. M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Devoe, born in Adrian, had lived most of his life in Cochran. He was the son of the late Devoe, Sr. and Mabel Budd Smith and was preceded in death by his infant daughter. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and a farmer. Devoe was a 1961 graduate of Cochran High School, former member of the Bleckley County School Board, past Man of the Year for Soil and Water Conservation and former president of the Bleckley County Jaycees. He was a Christian.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Gloria L. Smith of Cochran; his daughter, Rhonda (Lewis) Fowler of Hawkinsville; his grandson, Blake (Michaela) Newman of Richmond, TX; his great grandchildren, Cole, Jayce, Gracyn, Asher and Myisha; his brothers and sisters, Edward Smith of Peachtree City, Mickey Keene of Oglethorpe, Annette Tribble of Macon, Richard (Judy) Smith of Cochran and Phyllis Smith of Oglethorpe; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 207 Devoe Smith Road and will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
