Obituary

Chester – Edward E. Cannon, age 93, better known as Papa or Ace, passed to his heavenly home, with his family by his bedside, Sunday, September 4, 2022, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6,2022, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Sweet Home Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Chester.

Mr. Edward, born July 18, 1929, in Laurens County, had lived most of his life in Chester. He was the son of the late Elijah and Maudie Rowland Cannon and was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, of 63 years, Evelyn Johnson Cannon, his son Charles Cannon, his brothers, John F. Cannon, Hayward Cannon, Whipple Cannon and Lewis Cannon. Mr. Edward was retired from J.M. Huber Corporation and a famer. He loved the farm and enjoyed sharing his vegetables and watermelons with neighbors. He attended Sweet Home Primitive Baptist Church.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his children, Sharon (Michael) Jones and Earl (Diann) Cannon all of Chester; his grandchildren, Troy (Holly) Cannon, Larry (Becky) Bryant, Christy (Jonathan) Parrish, Travis (Cristie) Cannon, Alex (Chelsie) Cannon, Jessica (Brian) Beck, and Brooke (Trent) Moore; several great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mabel Cannon; several nieces, nephews, friends and cousins that will miss him very much.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, Casey and Joyce.

The family is at 1740 Old Rebie Road, Chester and will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until time for the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home
