Obituary

The Rev. Edwin E. Harvey, age 90, died Sunday, July 12, 2020, in Kingsford Place in Hawkinsville. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:15 A.M. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran.

Ed Harvey was born and raised in southwest Kansas. He married the late Mary Anne Meadows of Cochran in 1956. He fulfilled his dream of doing mission work in India and in Suva, Fiji, where they raised a family and he is still fondly remembered. The family returned to the United States in 1974 and soon moved to Texas, where he served churches in Austin, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. He retired from the clergy in 1995 and returned with his wife to the family farm near Cochran. He was enthusiastically involved in the life of both Cochran and Hawkinsville. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Cochran and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hawkinsville where he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination in 2009.

Survivors are his children, Audrey Harvey of Mission, TX, Ruth Harvey of Suva, Fiji, John Harvey of Decatur, and Philip Harvey of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Evelyn Meadows Steele, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Cochran or St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hawkinsville, or the donor's charity of choice.
