Empire – Mrs. Eleanor Barr Pruitt, age 99, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cochran. Burial will be in Pleasant Olive Cemetery in Chester.

Mrs. Pruitt, born in Alma, was the daughter of the late William Denson and Theresa Irene Bussell Barr. She worked as a bookkeeper and store manager and was a graduate of Chester High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Delacy "H.D." Pruitt. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors are her daughters, Kathy (Hank) Painter of Empire and Susan (Danny) Collins of Flowery Branch; foster children, Sherrie (Greg) Jennings of Winter Haven, FL, Terrie (Butch) Bruner of Arizona and Scott Echols of Washington; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
