"Buck" Bowman

Empire – George W. "Buck" Bowman, age 96, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in At Home Senior Living. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:30 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. in Roddy Baptist Church. Followed by a graveside service at 3:00 P.M. in Bowers Cemetery, where Mr. Buck will be laid to rest.
Mr. Buck was born in Roddy and was the son of the late George and Gladys Mercer Bowman. A devoted family man, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Celestine Dixon Bowman; his daughter, Debbie Bowman Pruett, his grandson Dustin Heath Pruett; his great grandson, Dustin Heath Pruett, Jr. and his siblings, Mary Berryhill, Doc Bowman, Louise Helm Hill and Ruby Nell Bowman.
Mr. Buck was retired from Robins Air Force Base and the Eastman Army National Guard, where he was the last surviving charter member. In his retirement years, he also worked part time for Keebler Corporation and Ranny Cannon Auto Sales until the age of 85.
Mr. Buck was a faithful and dedicated member of Roddy Baptist Church since 1958, where he served as a deacon and in many other roles throughout the years. He loved his home and community, where he could often be found working in his garden, yard and shop.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Steve Bowman of Kathleen and his grandson, Ryan Bowman of McDonough and his mom, Carolyn Bowman of Kathleen; son-in-law and daughter of the heart, Jimmy and Casey Pruett; granddaughter Jayci Pruett Cox and granddaughter-in-law, Misty Pruett, all of Eastman; grandson-in-law, David Cox (Lisa) of Port Orange, FL; great grandchildren, Trinity, Kennedy, Seth, Jaden, Gracie, Brycen, Addison ,Nicole and KJ; siblings, Janice Harrison of Bonaire, Carl Bowman (Gail) of Danville and Terry Bowman of Cochran; bonus daughter, Marcia Dugger (Jim) of Forsyth; In-laws, Weldon and Janice Dixon and Bonnie Bowman all of Cochran; dear friends, Garry and Elaine Belflower of Dexter; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Also survived by dear friend and companion, Gloria Williams, along with the residents and staff of At Home Senior Living, Cochran, GA.
Love Never Fails. Dad, we will miss you, always.
