Mr. Glenn Edward Mitchell, passed away on October 10, 2026, in Covington, Georgia, at the age of 82.
Born on March 11, 1944, in Lake Wells, Florida, Glenn lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and devotion to the people he loved. He was a man of deep conviction and quiet strength, and those who knew him will remember his kindness, his wisdom, and the steady generosity that shaped the way he lived each day. Glenn was loving, selfless, and wise, and he carried those qualities into every role he held throughout his life.
Glenn had a great love for the Lord and lived his faith in a way that was evident to all who knew him. He also held a true love for America and was deeply patriotic, serving with honor as the Georgia State Commander for Veterans of Foreign War. His commitment to veterans and his leadership in that role reflected the respect he had for service, sacrifice, and country. He believed in doing what was right, standing by others, and setting an example of integrity and devotion.
In his work life, Glenn was the Tool and Die Department Head for Lithonia Lighting, where he earned the respect of his coworkers and mentored apprentices with patience and care. He took pride in helping others learn, grow, and succeed, and he always wanted the best for everybody. His influence reached beyond the workplace, as he touched lives through encouragement, guidance, and the example of his strong work ethic.
Glenn enjoyed the simple blessings of life and found joy in gardening, fishing with his daughter, cooking, and grilling for family and friends. He loved having company and welcoming loved ones into his home, where he created memories that will be cherished for years to come. Time spent with family was especially meaningful to him, and he treasured every opportunity to gather, share a meal, and enjoy good conversation. His home and heart were always open, and his presence made others feel valued and cared for.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Mitchell; his son, Johnny Allen; his parents, James and Lenora Mitchell; and nine siblings. Their memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Mitchell; his daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Roger Bright; grandsons, Matthew (Taraneh) Staples, J.P. (Bridget) Staples; daughters and daughter-in-law, Donna Mitchell and Mary White, Sandra Mitchell; his sons, Austin and Ashley Peavy and David Dunn; and his siblings, Mack and Suzanna Mitchell, Carl Mitchell, and Clyde and Ron Mann. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will forever carry his memory with love and gratitude.
Glenn Mitchell will be remembered as a faithful man, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, and a steady source of strength to those around him. His life was a reflection of love, service, and devotion to family, faith, and country. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his kindness, his wisdom, and his selfless spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Mitchell will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, 12:00 P.M., at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Dr. Dan Hall officiating, 1111 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to her service, from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
