Chester – Glinda Rowland Cranford, age 67, passed into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Serenity Hospice Care in Dublin after a long fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Rowland Family Cemetery in Chester.
Glinda, a lifelong resident of Chester, was preceded in death by her precious parents, Aaron Quinton and Opal Jean Rowland. She was a retired bookkeeper from Progressive Rural Telephone Co. where she worked for 40 years and was a 1971 graduate of Dodge County High School. Glinda enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her son Paul. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Cochran, where she was one of the teachers for the Esther Sunday School Class, served on various teams and enjoyed serving her Lord and church family. Glinda was a loving mother of two children and a wonderful Gigi to her grandchildren.
Her legacy lives on in her children, Maria (Blake) Simpson of Eastman and Paul Cranford of Chester; her grandchildren, J.W. and A.J. Simpson of Eastman; her brother, Perry (Rhonda) Rowland of Dudley; her nieces, Beth (Jamie) Wilkins of Chester and Jenni (Zack) Blackmon of Kathleen; her great nieces and great nephew, Millie, Josie, Maddie, Avery, Emma and Reid; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, 812 GA Highway 126 East, Cochran, GA 31014.
The family is at 1730 Old Rebie Road, Chester and will greet friends after the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
