Cochran - Gomesinda "Sandy" Upshaw, age 85, died Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran.

Mrs. Upshaw, born in Dale, TX, had lived most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late Marcelo and Lupe Maldonado Cruz, was preceded in death by her husband, H.L. Upshaw, her daughter, Mary Jane Garza and her son, John Garza. Mrs. Sandy was known around Cochran as the "Tomato Lady".

Survivors are her sons, Ramon (Shary) Garza and Robert (Karen) Garza; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters, Nena (Luis) Zamora and Felipa (Jack) Gongora; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends after the service Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran.
