Cochran – Howard G. Briggs, age 78, died Tuesday, October 27, 2020, in Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Briggs, born in Roswell, New Mexico, had lived in Cochran since 1992. He was the son of the late Howard Sydney and Thelma Lucille Tapley Briggs and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, James Wade Mick, Bernice (Billie) Mick-Ashcraft, Wanda Lea Briggs-Cain, Dale Curtis Briggs and Donald Wayne Briggs. He was a Ret. SSG from the United States Army and retired from the United States Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Judy S. Briggs of Cochran; his children, Connie (Ronnie) Long of Cochran, Howard (Susan) Briggs, Jr. of Kathleen and Vanessa (Bob) Alman of Cumming; his grandchildren: Ashley (Jared) Carson, Miranda (Brad) Wells, Corey Hewitt;  Nick (Ashley) Briggs, Amanda (Alex) Wise, Jack Briggs, Gabbie Bowman,  Eva Bowman; Emily Alman, Josh Alman; sixteen great grandchildren; his brothers, Joe Briggs, Sr. and Robert Briggs; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 192 Lucas Road, Cochran and will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home.
