Maryville, TN - Howard Franklin Umberger, age 85, passed away Friday,  March 31, 2023 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in Miller Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran, GA with full military honors.

Howard was preceded in death by parents, Hubert and Virginia Clark Umberger and his sister, Christine Lambert. He was retired Master Sergeant after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Howard was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Faye Moore Umberger; daughter, Paula Umberger; son, Danny Umberger and grandchildren, Katharine Siprelle, Hunter Umberger, and Danny Umberger; nieces, Rebecca Bonham Bryant, Tracy Bonham, Rebecca Davidson, Danielle Hogan, and Amanda Smith; stepmother, Charlotte Umberger; brother-in-law, Roger Moore of Cochran.
