Cochran – Hudson "Bubba" Padgett, age 88, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, in At Home Senior Living in Cochran. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Bubba, born in Bleckley County, was the son of the late Hudson James and Susie Coley Padgett. He was preceded in death by his son, John Hudson Padgett, his grandson, Thomas Henry Padgett, his brothers, Lenard Outler Padgett and Billy Padgett and his brother-in-law, Leo Holland. He was a 1953 graduate of Cochran High School, retired from Georgia National Guard where he served as the Battalion Supply NCO and later as the Battalion Medical NCO. He was a charter member of the 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry Division (Grey Bonnett). After 39 years of service, he retired from Robins Air Force Base as the Director of the International Logistics Program Office. In 1988 he was awarded the International Logistics Program Supervisor of the year by the Air Force Logistics Command.  After Civil Service retirement, Mr. Bubba worked 20 years as a contractor for MTC and S&K Technologies, providing logistical support to the USAF and foreign governments under Foreign Military Sales Program. He attended First Baptist Church in Cochran and was a member of the Charles Barrow Sunday School Class. Mr. Bubba never met a stranger, loved to be around people and often referred to his co-workers as part of his family. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Braves fan.

Survivors are his wife, Jo Ann Burgess Padgett; his son, Kip (Tracy) Padgett of Wake Forest; his grandchildren, Cole Padgett and Emma Potzner; his brothers, Wallace (Linda) Padgett and Jimmy (Linda) Padgett of Cochran; his sisters, Nadine Holland of Cochran, Peggy (Leroy) Baugher of Athens and Paulette (Lee) Watson of Valdosta; his sister-in-law, Janice Padgett of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.
