Jack Hall
Dykes
Dec 19, 1943 — Aug 23, 2026
Jack Hall Dykes, age 82, formerly of Cochran and recently of Bonaire, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Emory University Hospital Midtown Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 608 GA Highway 26 East, Cochran, Georgia 31014. The family will greet friends after the service on Wednesday at Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will be private in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jack was born and lived in Bleckley County for most of his life before moving to Bonaire five years ago. His life was closely tied to his family, his work, and especially to music. He was the son of the late Jack and Ersula Hall Dykes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laverne Dykes Long; his brothers-in-law, Eugene Long, Bobby Smith, and Bobby Jones; and an infant niece.
Music was one of the defining joys and lasting threads of Jack’s life. From the young age of twelve, Jack began leading music, beginning a lifelong connection to worship and service through song. Over the years, he led music at Union Hill Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church, sharing that gift in the communities where he lived and worshiped. That work remained a meaningful part of his life, and it stands as one of the clearest reflections of how he spent his time and talents.
Jack was a graduate of Cochran High School and attended Middle Georgia College. He later built a long career as a Kaolin Research Technician with J.M. Huber Corporation, retiring after 30 years of service. In addition to that career, he was a former co-owner of ABC Pool Care. Whether in technical work, business, or the rhythm of everyday life, he devoted himself to the responsibilities before him. He also enjoyed woodworking, another expression of a life shaped by skill, patience, and hands-on work.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Madge S. Dykes of Bonaire; his children, Jeff (Tracy) Dykes of Cochran and Zane (Linda) Dykes of Bonaire; his grandchildren, Zachary Dykes, Mackenzie (Keith) Glover, Lucas Dykes, Paisley Dykes, Mallory (J.T.) Holton, and Maci (Charlie) Dwyer; his great-grandchildren, Amelia Holton, Cliff Holton, Beau Holton, Brooksley Holton, Colton Glover, and Camden Glover; his sister, Hilda Jones of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 608 GA Highway 26 East, Cochran, GA 31014; Friendship Baptist Church of Warner Robins, 1322 Feagin Mill Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088; or to the donor’s church or charity of choice.
The family is at 504 Mt. Zion Road, Bonaire.
Jack Hall Dykes will be remembered in the music he shared, the work he gave, and the family life he helped shape across the years. His life is honored with gratitude, and his memory will continue to be treasured by those who knew him.
