James Curtis
Bryant
Apr 4, 1946 — Jun 7, 2025
Cochran – James Curtis Bryant, age 79, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, surrounded by his family, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in First Baptist Church and the family will greet friends after the service at the church. Burial will be private in Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
James, born in Laurens County, was the son of the late Rev. James Earl and Bessie Mae Wright Bryant. He graduated from Cusseta High School and had a long career at Robins Air Force Base working in aircraft and electronics until his retirement in 2001. He loved playing softball in the church league in his early years and even umpired. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing as well as water skiing. He was a talented woodworker and could be found often in his shop building something special.
He was a loving daddy to his children and gave them a strong faith in Christ, showing them how to love Jesus. He practiced God first, then family always. He cherished his marriage to Denise for almost 24 years. He loved his children but adored his grandchildren and made time to attend their numerous events. He never met a stranger, always remembered names, and greeted everyone with a big hug. James shared his God-given talents with anyone in need and always gave the credit to the Lord. He set a wonderful example of a godly servant's heart and his family is so proud of the precedence he set. James was an RA leader and ordained as a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church and later served in numerous areas at First Baptist Church in Cochran. He shaped the lives of many young people, whether through church, friends of his children or hearts he touched in his community.
Survivors are his wife, Denise Goodroe Bryant; son, Curtis (Paula) Bryant, daughters, Linda (Zane) Dykes and Kristi (Michael) Corrigan; grandchildren Colby (Bailey) Bryant, Mallory (JT) Holton, Maci Dykes (Charlie Dwyer), Alyssa Corrigan and Jack Corrigan; great-grandchildren, Bo, Sam and Luke Bryant, and Amelia, Cliff, Beau and Brooksley Holton; his aunts and several cousins; brother-in-law, Joey (Suzanne) Goodroe; nieces, Alice Lynn Goodroe and Millie Ann Goodroe.
