Cochran – James R. "Dock" Churchwell, age 87, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his residence in Bleckley County, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Christ Chapel Church of God in Cochran. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Dock, was a lifelong resident of Cochran. He was the son of the late C.B. and Jewell Churchwell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen Churchwell; daughter-in-law, Kim Churchwell; brothers, C.B. "Junior" Churchwell and Clifford Churchwell; sisters, Christine Tucker and Betty Arnold and sister-in-law, Orene Churchwell.

In the 1950s, Dock founded, owned and later retired from the family sheetrock business know as Churchwell's Drywall, Inc. There were many homes throughout Georgia and the surrounding states, where he would say, "We did the sheetrock in that house", as he rode by.

Dock's life was a picture of love, from the way he cared for his family, to the way he extended that love to others by opening his home and providing to the needy in various capacities. He depended deeply on prayer, hard work and giving more than receiving. He fully believed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; walking in a righteous way, treating others the way he wanted to be treated and encouraging others to do the same.

Survivors are his son, Tim Churchwell of Cochran; his daughter, Tina (David) Foskey of Cochran; his grandsons, Chris (Kassie) Churchwell, Clay (Allie) Foskey and James (Amber) Foskey; his great grandchild, Morgan Foskey; his brother, Donnie (Delores) Churchwell; his sisters, Peggy Parten and Patricia (Charlie) Phillips and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the Churchwell Barn located at 224 Jac Arts Rd, Cochran and will greet friends Sunday, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., at Christ Chapel Church.
