Chester – James Oliver Hosford, Sr., age 87, died Monday, August 16, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hosford was a lifelong resident of Chester. He was the son of the late Columbus B. and Mae Belfower Hosford, was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Hosford and Ralph Hosford, his sister, Mary Hosford and his granddaughter, Sabrina Wright. Mr. James was a retired rural mail carrier and a farmer. He was a 1953 graduate of Chester High School and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Kemper Holt Hosford of Chester; his children, James O. "Buddy" (Emily) Hosford, Jr., Phillip (Brenda) Hosford and Kathy (James) Rogers all of Chester; his brother, Carl (Joy) Hosford of Chester; his sister, Imogene Hosford Mullis of Cochran; his grandchildren, Kellie (Cam) Braswell and Brett Hosford both of Chester, Collin Wimberly and Cherry Hooks both of Cochran, Brad Wright of Dexter and James (Brandi) Williams of Eastman; great grandchildren, Connor Braswell, Karsyn Braswell, Addie Wimberly, Ralie Conley, Brodie Nettles, Bristol Nettles, Gracie Wright, Olwynn Williams and Morgan Williams; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 965 Old Yonkers Road, Chester and will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
