Cochran – James Phillip "Jimmy" Wimberly, Jr., age 86, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County. He was the son of the late James Phillip "Bo", Sr. and Ila Horton Wimberly and was preceded in death by his son, James Phillip "Jim" Wimberly IV and his sister, Anne (Jackie) Holder. He was an ag pilot, operator of Jimmy's Spraying Service and Wimberly Air Service, Inc. Jimmy had worked at Southern Railway for 15 years, was owner and operator of J& J Speedway in Cochran and a 1956 graduate of Cochran High School. He was a member of Longstreet Historical Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Marjorie Wimberly of Cochran; his children, Lee (Kellie) Wimberly and Lane (Mary Lee) Wimberly of Cochran; grandchildren, Jim (Brianna) Wimberly, Mary Lane Wimberly and Anslee Wimberly all of Cochran; great grandson, Will Wimberly of Cochran; his nieces and nephews including nieces, Debra Holder, Susan (Brad) Wilson and Dr.'s Jenny (Judd) Williams; his cat, Pumpkin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Longstreet Historical Methodist Church, P.O. Box 442, Cochran, GA 31014
