Obituary

On October 12, 2026, James E. Sikes finished his earthly journey at the age of 65 and went home to be with his heavenly father.

James passed away at Piedmont Macon Hospital after a courageous fight from complications with a stroke. His strength and determination left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Born on January 5, 1961, in Cochran, James was the son of the late Jerry Sikes and Paulette Bryant Bowen. He spent his life in central Georgia and lived in Macon and Warner Robins throughout the years.

During his younger years, James worked hard on the family farm, an experience that was part of the foundation of his life. He was also a natural athlete and especially enjoyed football. His interests remained wide and distinctive throughout his life. He loved pro wrestling, was an avid Georgia Tech fan, and found lasting enjoyment in music. A self-taught guitar player, James appreciated vinyl records and rock and roll, interests that reflected an important part of his personal life and the things he enjoyed most.

James worked as an iron worker. Along with his work, he carried with him the memories of the places he had lived and the many interests that marked his life. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, a faith that was part of who he was.

He is survived by his siblings, Kathy Sikes Bates, Stacy (Sandra) Mauldin Dawn Moore and Wendi Sikes. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends all of whom he had fond memories.

A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
