Cochran – James Austin Yearty, age 85, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Heart of Georgia Nursing Home in Eastman. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro.

Mr. Austin, born in Cochran, was the son of the late Lyndon Austin and Lois Reeves Yearty. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Pope Yearty, his brother, Ray Yearty, his sister, Martha Jo Churchwell and his son-in-law, Paul Maddox. Mr. Austin was a US Navy veteran and an accountant for 45 years retiring from James F. Kimmons CPA firm. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors are his children, James Earl (Sherry) Yearty, Monica (Jimmy) Meadows and Joan "Sissy" Maddox; step-sons, Mark (Kerri) Glover and Keith Glover; grandchildren, Craig Yearty, Jayme (Hunter) Simpson, Eli (Logan) Maddox, Logan (Phillip) Davis, Brandon Glover, Chase (Emily) Meadows, Logan Meadows and Hannah (Vince) Mimbs; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or the donor's church or charity of choice.

The family will greet friends after the service Monday, December 30, 2024, at Mathis Funeral Home.
