Cochran – Jane Armstrong Newell, age 91, died Monday, November 11, 2019, in Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in Longstreet United Methodist Church in Bleckley County. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Jane was born December 6, 1927 in Bleckley County to the late James Franklin and Daisy Stewart Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Parks Wood and Rodney Edward Newell and her brother, Julius Walker Miller and sister-in-law and Helen Clewis Miller. She was a graduate of Cochran High School and Middle Georgia College. She was employed at The Warner Robins Sun Times for 14 years and was owner and publisher of The Robins Review for 29 years before retiring in November of 2002. She was a charter member of Central Georgia Genealogical Society. Mrs. Jane was a member of Longstreet United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School Teacher at Longstreet and co-chairperson of the Longstreet United Methodist Future Fund.

Survivors are her niece, Judy (Bobby) Leaptrot of Bonaire; her furry companion Max, and an array of Wildwood cats.

The family will greet friends after the service Friday at Longstreet United Methodist Church.
