Cochran – Jerry Manning, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at At Home Senior Living in Cochran. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will greet friends at Mathis Funeral Home.

Jerry was born in Macon, to the late William Arelius Manning, Sr., and Freida Mae Kitchens Manning Kersey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Arelius Manning, Jr. Jerry spent his formative years in Cochran and graduated from Cochran High School as part of the Class of 1971.

After high school, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He retired in 1992 with the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSGT), a milestone he held with great pride. Following his military career, Jerry worked for several local organizations including the City of Cochran, Dykes Grassing, and Lloyd's Chrysler Dodge Jeep.

Jerry is survived by his children: Jill Flowers (Jeff) of Cochran and Jonathan Manning (Marie) of East Dublin; his grandchildren: Megan McNair, Drake McNair, and Hannah Flowers; his ex-wife, Jo Ann Manning; his siblings: Tony Manning (Jewell) of Helen; Curtis Manning (Jenny Sue) and Pam Manning McElligott (Dave), both of Cochran; and his sister-in-law Marcia Manning of Cochran. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.

Jerry had a special bond with his beloved dog Gypsy, who brought him much joy and companionship.
