Fitzgerald/Ocilla - Mr. Jimmie W. Nesmith, age 82, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Ocilla. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Cochran, Georgia. He moved to Fitzgerald, Ga in 2009 and resided there with his friends, the Crossin family.

Mr. Nesmith was born in Florida, on January 19, 1942, but he grew up in Cochran, GA. He was the son of the late Rufus S. Nesmith and Willie Bell A. Nesmith of Cochran, GA and was preceded in death by some of his siblings. Survivors are his sister, Quentine (Tina) Barnett of Lakeland, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmie enjoyed neighborhood fish fries, riding in his golf cart, feeding birds, chickens, and horses. He loved his father's farm growing up, but his favorite activity was fishing. He enjoyed many days on a pond or on the lake, doing what he loved.
