Obituary

Jimmy "Papa" Mullis, age 81, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church in Cochran, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.

Born in Macon, Jimmy was the son of the late Jim Pete and Ollie Mae Mullis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina H. Mullis, and his sister Betty Stanfill. He spent most of his life in Cochran and honorably served in the United States Navy for four years. After his service, he worked in civil service at Robins Air Force Base, specializing in gyroscopes.

A lifelong member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Jimmy served as the choir director and had a deep love for music. He was a talented singer and songwriter who found joy in sharing his gift with others. In addition to his passion for music, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and solving crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his children, Windy (Steve) Darsey and Jim (Laura) Mullis of Cochran; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sisters Charlotte Banks and Gloria Mixter. He is also remembered by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at 251 Elizabeth St., Cochran.
