Cochran – John E. Harris, Sr., age 85, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Graveside memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. John, a lifelong resident of Cochran, was the son of the late Wallace Leigh and Frances Virginia Speer Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Moore Harris, his sisters, Lola Harris Ellis, Virginia Harris Howard and his brother, Bill Harris. He was a 1957 graduate of Cochran High school, where he played basketball and attended Middle Georgia College. Mr. John was the owner and operator of Cochran Coin and Gun Shop and former owner of Standard Oil Co., Harris Ford Motor Co. and WVMG Radio Station. He was part owner of Howell Manufacturing and farmed. Mr. John was a member of First Methodist Church in Cochran.

Survivors are his children, Zeke (Cheryl) Harris of Cochran and Susan (Larry) Reeves of Athens; his grandchildren, Ashley Alexander, Kyle Harris and Trey (Logan) Harris all of Cochran; his great grandchildren, Ellis Alexander, Luka Harris and Huntlee Harris; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 448 GA Highway 26 West, Cochran.
