Cochran – John I. Jones, Jr., age 79, died Monday, December 24, 2018, at his residence. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jones, born in Auburn, AL, had lived in Cochran since 1969. He was the son of the late John Iven, Sr. and Lannie Jones and was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert A. Jones and James A. Jones. He was a 1957 graduate of Lanett High School in Lanett, AL, a 1962 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in accounting and masters degree in accounting from Georgia College in Milledgeville. John was retired, after 25 years, as Vice President of Fiscal Affairs at Middle Georgia College, a US Army Veteran and former member of the Cochran Rotary Club.

Survivors are his wife, Jackie M. Jones of Cochran; his daughter. Kelly A. Jones of Cochran; cousins including, Jackie J. Cooper of Opelika, AL; several nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends after the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
