Cochran – Johnny Ray Howell, age 69, died Friday, February 25, 2022, in the Bleckley Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery.

Johnny Ray was a lifelong resident of Cochran. He was the son of the late Johnny C. and Mona Lee Fann Howell and was preceded in death by his son Terry Howell and his grandson Nicholas Dykes. He was retired from J.M. Huber, after 38 years and former bus driver for Bleckley County Schools for 10 years. He was a member and deacon of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Kathy Dunn Howell of Cochran; his daughter, Carminta (Trent) Dykes of Cochran; his grandchildren, Trey (Kayla) Dykes, Kayla Speir and Landon Dykes all of Cochran; his great grandchildren, John Morgan Dykes, Tucker Dykes and Will Speir all of Cochran; his sisters, Carolyn (Harbot "Hardhead") Mathis of Dublin and Grace Adcock of Escondido, CA; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 456 Bowers Cemetery Road, Cochran and will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Mathis Funeral Home.
