Obituary

Cochran – Johnny Marvin Jarrell, age 91, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Navicent Health in Macon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. in Salem Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jarrell was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County. He was the son of the late Wiley Robert and Elizabeth Sapp Jarrell and was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Maddox Dean Jarrell. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Gideon and was instrumental in re-establishing the Cochran Woodman of the World Chapter #641. He was a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church where he was a former song leader and self-taught pianist.

Survivors are his sister, Mabel Davidson of Cochran; step-children, Gwendolyn Dean (Jim) Dykes of Atlanta, Janet Dean (Don) Knowles of Rhine, Norma Dean (Darryl) Parker of Clarksville and Jimmy (Meri) Dean of Cochran; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 95, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family is at 1088 Jones Road and 469 Jones Road and will greet friends one hour before the service Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church.
