Cochran – Joyce Francis Pitts, age 76, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, surrounded by her family, at her residence. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Joyce was born on December 14, 1946, in Bleckley County. She was the daughter of the late John W., Sr. and Lillie Mae Bridges Francis and was preceded in death by her brother, JW Francis, Jr.; her sister, Jewell Arnold; her brothers-in-law, Quinton Floyd and Glynn Brown and her sister-in-law, Sue Pitts. Mrs. Joyce retired from Robins Air Force Base after 33 years of work.  She enjoyed retirement. She was a practical joker who loved spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, Charles, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs.  She was a recreation softball coach for 20+ years.  She had one problem and that was not being able to tell her grandchildren no.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Pitts of Cochran; her children, Chuck (Sandy) Pitts of Byron, Chris (Tara ) Pitts of Sharpsburg and Wendy (Troy) Cook, Cochran; her "bonus child", Corbit Belflower; her grandchildren, Tori (Jon) Combs, Austin (Sara Bloodworth) Cook, Luke (Audry Holmes) Cook, Dakota Pitts, Kennedy Pitts, Ryleigh Pitts; her step-grandchildren, Avery Bergh and Conner Bergh, her siblings, Alice (Jack ) Stone of Lizemore, WV,  Jeanelle Floyd of Cochran , Jeanette Brown of Yonkers and Margie (Tommy) Royal of Hawkinsville; her brother-in-law, Horace Pitts of Milan and many nieces and nephews.

The family is at 172 Sandpiper Road, Cochran and will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
