Obituary

Perry - Judy Wynne Mullis, age 81, passed away at her residence surrounded by her children and their spouses on October 25, 2024.  Her family is comforted knowing she is in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her husband, Roy. Funeral services will be held Sunday October 27, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends in the chapel from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Judy was born on May 11, 1943 to her parents Charlie and Carleen Wynne. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Cleve and Mattie Lou Holland and was the oldest living relative of the Cleve Holland family. She was a life-long resident of Cochran/Bleckley County and had recently moved to Perry, GA to be closer to her children.

She retired from Phillips & Phillips / Cochran Oil Mill in 2005 after working there over 20 years. She enjoyed working there with her friend, the late Betty Carol Holland. She worked law issues and cotton gin business, but mostly liked interacting with the local cotton farmers during the busy cotton ginning season. She had previously worked for several years at the Bleckley County Clerk of Superior Court Office. After retiring she and Roy were able to take several trips to North Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina.  They both enjoyed exploring the beautiful scenery of the Smoky Mountains.

She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, especially hummingbirds and she hung her humming bird feeders out year after year. She had a gifted "green thumb" and loved nurturing her numerous house plants. As her mobility decreased in recent years, she enjoyed watching her favorite reality TV shows and true crime dramas. Her children were always impressed and amazed at how quickly she adapted to new technology. She was a skilled user of her iphone, Apple watch, smart TV and streaming platforms.

Judy was a loved Mama and Mimi and enjoyed visits from her children   and grandchildren, especially gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special occasions. It was such a blessing that just two weeks ago she got to meet and hold her newest great-grandchild, Eliza.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy N Mullis; her parents Charlie and Carleen Wynne, maternal grandparents Cleve and Mattie Lou Holland, paternal grandparents Tillet and Lilla Belle Wynne.

She is survived by her children Tommy (Laurie) Mullis of Perry, Terri (Darryl) Albritton of Perry, Todd (Kelli) Mullis of Fayetteville; her grandchildren Thomas Mullis, Dana (Knox) Hilliard, Hillary (Jimi) Bell, Carson (Helen) Albritton, Olivia Horton, Bailey Mullis, Eli Mullis; great grandchildren Renea, Rebeckah, Jake, Tucker and Eliza; Cousins Charlotte Pipkin, Pam Clapp, Gina Holland, Ronnie Skipper; brother-in-law/sister-in-law Johnny and Toni Mullis; lifelong friends Linda Porter, Carolyn Lanfair, Anne Rowland
