Cochran – Kay Smith Raffield, age 67, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Serenity Hospice in Dublin. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.

Kay, born in Atlanta, had lived most of her life in Bleckley County. She was the daughter of the late William Kirby, Sr. and Jether Alma Moon Smith and was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Lee Raffield, Sr. and her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Herman Belflower. She was a 1969 graduate of Cochran High School, retired from Lithonia Lighting and an employee of Wal-Mart in Cochran. Kay was a member of Ruth Baptist Church and attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors are son, Johnny Lee Raffield, Jr. of Cochran; her grandchildren, Alexis Marie Raffield and Jacob Lee Raffield of Cochran; her brother, Kirby (Shirley) Smith, Jr. of Cochran; her sister, Faye Smith (Lee) Barrs of Cochran; step-mother, Ouida Smith of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 547 Hudson Jones Road and will greet friends one hour before the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
