Cochran – Lawton Charles "L.C." Carter, age 82, passed away, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Jones County.

Mr. L.C., born in Baxley, was the son of the late Bernice and Retter C. Carter and the husband of the late Janice Sapp Carter. He was a welder and served in the Georgia National Guard. Mr. L.C. loved his family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

Survivors are his children, Sharon (Joseph) Gantt, Melissa (Kenny) Sikes and Lisa (Michael) Thompson all of Cochran; his grandchildren, Joey (Kelly) Gantt, Rebecca (Rodney) Martin, Ashley Spearman, Wesley Gnatt, Eric (Amber) Sikes, Amber (Matt) Jones, Charles Stevenson, Mikey (Lizzie) Kondorf and Nicholas Thompson; twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his sister, Lawanda (Donnie) Boyd of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 186 Seagull Road, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home
