Linda Dykes Padgett, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence in Cochran, on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Cochran. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. A private burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Linda spent most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late James Marion Dykes and Kathryn Crooms Dykes and was preceded in death by her brother, Jim P. Dykes.

A graduate of Cochran High School's Class of 1960, Linda distinguished herself as class president and was actively involved as a majorette, cheerleader, and member of the Scepter Staff. It was during these formative years that she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Wallace Padgett Sr., with whom she shared a remarkable 65-year marriage.

Together they raised five children—one son and four daughters—and built a life centered around family values and mutual support. Linda dedicated many years to being a homemaker before later working as a secretary for her husband's paving company.

Linda was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Cochran where she taught Sunday School for many years. Her greatest passion was teaching children about Jesus—a calling she embraced with joy and devotion.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of her church community, Linda's life was marked by love, dedication, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Wallace Padgett Sr.; their children: Wally and Shellene Padgett of Dublin; Marie and Greg Francis of Cochran; Kay Struble of Baldwin; Paula and Danny Raffield of Cochran; and Jeanne and Ben Lowry of Cartersville. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Linda D. Padgett to First Baptist Church Cochran, 101 S Second St., Cochran, GA 31014.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Georgia Hospice, the compassionate CNAs and to her dedicated and caring sitters for their support and loving care.

The family welcomes visitors at their home located at 280 Mac Thompson Rd., Cochran.

Linda's legacy lives on through the lives she touched with kindness and faith. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
