Obituary

Lou Brooks passed away peacefully in her beloved home of Green Meadows Assisted Living on November 30, 2025, at the age of 89. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Born and raised in Canton, North Carolina, she moved to Conyers, Georgia in 1960 to work as a laboratory technician in Rockdale County Hospital. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Charles P. Brooks, and became a second mother to two young girls and later a new mom herself to a son. In 1973, she and her family moved to Cochran, Georgia where she became an active member in the community, especially the Cochran Chamber of Commerce and the Bleckley County Heart Association. From 1982 to 1985, she served as a field liaison for U.S. Representative Richard Ray (Georgia 3rd Congressional District).

Lou was known for her energetic spirit and always "having something going on." She cherished her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, and treasured being an active presence in their lives as they grew. Later in life, Lou dedicated herself to spreading the gospel through various missionary activities and care-taking roles. She was a devoted woman of faith, often found praising and worshiping, and was a dedicated fan of Jimmy Swaggart. To know Lou was to love her. We are comforted knowing that she is now in heaven, rejoicing with her Heavenly Father.

Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Brooks.  She is survived by her children, Margaret (Phil) Bacchus, Lauren (Bob) Farrell, and William (Mary) Brooks. Her grandchildren Alicia Brooks, Sierra (Alan-David) Dykes, Christopher Bass, and Charlie (Dalton) Dabbs.
